Finite

Moon like spheres, two blade knives;

Sharp edges of glass and silver

Meet your eyes.

Sad, melting stalactites

Down my face. Your fingertips

Across my heart. Through my spine,

Your signals

Erratically pulsating

From your being to mine

.

Finite.

It is the ending line — today,

Your nails still scratch

The surface of my chest

Where someone else once left

Hope and saliva

.

One by one, the letters of your name

Will sink down — yes,

One by one —

Into my soul

To never escape the core

Of who I’ve always meant to be

With you

.
