I’ve watched you from the very beginning —

Your heart

Like an infertile, but miraculous land,

Grows fruits of gold and silver

What can I do with lies that burn like

The sun?

When the night itself veils

Our sight,

We run to hide

From the land where we cannot grow truth,

We get gold and silver

You’ve built your own kingdom,

But you would never satisfy the hunger

My eyes now are too tired to see the colors of your

Lies, and my body aches

For reality

I’m just a miserable woman to the king,

But my heart is a garden.

My feet are heavy — I slowly raise dust while I leave

Your little kingdom

  1. Lovely. I particularly like the line where you say your heart is a garden. I’ve been working in mine. I put my heart into it. It gives me back more than the men in my life have… :)

    1. Thank you, Kathy. (:
I love when you comment. You always have great insights, haha.

I’ve been working on mine, too. Although I have a garden, it’s hard to keep the flowers alive.
