Expiation

In December,

Your necklace suddenly broke

When I had it around my neck

Like a rope from the past. I stared at its two metallic lines

For a moment,

And buried it among the things

In my purse

.

I wanted to sink into sadness.

Lament — for the sake of

My heart

.

You broke your promises when you

Promised more. With a heavy heart,

I want to expiate those memories;

But I don’t — I am still

A quiet swan

.
.
.

A dying swan

Without its song

Is just something beautiful,

And sad

.

I can’t find

That necklace anymore

.
